Bar association donates $1,000 to CASAFull Details...

The Third Judicial District Bar Association donated $1,000 to the Court Appointed Special Advocates after a barbecue July 1 for members of the Third District Bar and Canyon County employees. The Liberty Bell Barbecue featured a 100-pound pulled pork sandwich on a 48-inch bun, as well as an opportunity for people to ring the courtyard bell for an additional donation.

Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile VirusFull Details...

Mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile Virus have been found in Canyon County. According to Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District Director Ed Burnett, a trap containing 95 Culex tarsalis mosquitoes testing positive was collected from a site on the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge. Burnett said CCMAD has been monitoring a spike in the Culex tarsalis mosquitoes throughout the county over the past two weeks.

New magistrate judges selectedFull Details...

Third Judicial District Administrative District Judge Juneal C. Kerrick has announced the selection of Dayo O. Onanubosi of Nampa as a Magistrate Judge for Canyon County and Brian D. Lee of Fruitland as a Magistrate Judge for Payette County. Mr. Lee and Mr. Onanubosi were selected from a field of 26 applicants at a meeting of the Third District Magistrates Commission in Caldwell,  June 26.

Clerk's Office to observe early closureFull Details...

Beginning Friday, June 26, the Canyon County Clerk’s Office will close on Fridays at 4 p.m. The Clerk’s Office includes the following divisions: Recorder, Welfare, Elections/Passports, Auditing, and all Court Clerks. All of these offices will close at 4 p.m. with this exception: trials/hearings in progress will continue until adjourned.

Treasurer's Office to close early on FridaysFull Details...

Beginning Friday, June 26, the Canyon County Treasurer’s Office will close on Fridays at 4 p.m. This remedy is being implemented as the result of the resolution signed by the Board of County Commissioners in May which provided each employee be granted off 1 hour per week, designated as an Employee Appreciation Hour and in consideration of the 2.5 percent pay cut enforced earlier in the year to all county employees.

DMV to close early on WednesdaysFull Details...

Beginning June 17, the Canyon County Motor Vehicles and Driver’s License offices will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.
